Crickbuster Experience – ICC Men’s T20 World Cup Australia 2022
The 2022 ICC Men’s T20 World Cup marked the eighth edition of the tournament, previously known as the ICC T20 World cup 2022. Hosted in Australia from October 16 to November 13, 2022, the tournament concluded with England defeating Pakistan by five wickets in the final. This victory secured England’s second ICC Men’s T20 World Cup title, equaling the West Indies’ record of two titles (won in 2012 and 2016). With this win, England also became the first team in history to hold both the ICC Cricket World Cup and the ICC T20 World Cup titles at the same time. Sam Curran was named both Player of the Match in the final and Player of the Tournament.
Originally slated for 2020, the event was postponed due to the COVID-19 pandemic and later rescheduled for 2022 in Australia, who also entered the tournament as the defending champions Matches were played across seven cities: Adelaide, Brisbane, Geelong, Hobart, Melbourne, Perth, and Sydney. The semi-finals were held at the Sydney Cricket Ground and the Adelaide Oval.
To determine the final tournament lineup, global qualifying matches were held. The top two teams from the qualifying groups advanced to the Super 12 stage, joining eight automatically qualified teams. This edition was the last to feature 16 teams, with the tournament expanding to 20 teams in the following edition.
